The synthetic ingredients (chemicals) listed below are extremely common, and used in nearly all cosmetics today. Unless you’re applying a 100% natural product to your body, there’s a risk your cells are being exposed to these harmful chemicals daily.

Potent chemicals used as a preservative in cosmetic products. These pernicious chemicals have hormone disrupting capabilities and are linked to cancer.

Also known as Lauryl Ether and Laureth Sulfate.
They break down your skin’s moisture barrier, potentially leading to dry skin with premature aging. When combined with many popular ingredients, it forms nitrosamines (nitrates), a carcinogen.

Acrylamide

Toxic and harmful by inhalation. They may cause cancer and be mutagenic. It may cause heritable genetic damage and cause impaired fertility.

Propylene glycol

May inhibit skin growth and cause dermatitis and skin irritation. Linked to kidney and liver problems.

Polyethylene glycol

Can cause circulatory collapse, paralysis, convulsions, coma, and even death from respiratory failure.

These two chemicals release formaldehyde. Serious side effects include weakening of the immune system and cancer.

Glycols

With its ability to quickly penetrate the skin, the EPA requires workers to wear protective gloves, clothing and goggles when working with this toxic substance. The Material Safety Data Sheets warn against skin contact, as PG has systemic consequences such as brain, liver, and kidney abnormalities.
